Warren Buffett recently spoke about his thoughts on the limitations of artificial intelligence when it comes to stock picking. In an interview with local media, he shared his perspective on ChatGPT, stating that while it can help screen stocks that meet certain parameters, it has its limitations.
Buffett expressed his skepticism by saying, “It’s a bit odd, I don’t think it can tell you what stocks to buy. It can tell me every stock that meets a certain criterion or standard within three seconds, but it’s limited in certain ways. You should see the jokes it comes up with.”
He further explained that he had a crash course in ChatGPT when Bill Gates showed him how it works three months ago, and found it interesting. According to him, “It can translate the Constitution into Spanish in one second, but ChatGPT can’t tell jokes. You can tell it to come up with a joke about Warren and cryptocurrency, but it won’t be able to do it. It’s read every book and watched every TV show, but it can’t tell jokes. I told Bill that I want to ask it, ‘How do you plan on getting rid of humans?’ and see what it says before we unplug it.”
